How to install the Pals metal fence

The Pals steel privacy fence can be installed yourself using suitable tools and fixings. Before starting, carefully measure the fence line and determine the exact position of each post.

Install your metal fence in 6 steps

1. Measure the fence line: determine the required position of the fence and mark the locations of the posts.
2. Install the posts: position the steel posts securely and make sure each post is perfectly vertical.
3. Position the U-profiles: position the profiles approximately 20cm from the top and bottom of the post.
4. Secure the U-profiles: attach them to the steel posts using suitable screws.
5. Install the steel slats: build the fence from the bottom upwards, checking the alignment as you proceed.
6. Secure and inspect: fasten the slats using the supplied colour-matched pop rivets and check that all connections are secure.

Use a spirit level regularly during installation. Even a small deviation at the first post can become increasingly noticeable when several fence sections are installed in a straight line.

How to maintain a galvanised metal fence

A galvanised and powder-coated steel fence requires relatively little maintenance. General dirt can usually be removed with water, a soft cloth or brush and, if required, a mild cleaning product.
