Hazel hurdles

High-quality ready-made woven garden fence made of hazel or hazel screens made of whole or split hazel, give your garden a natural look and are an environmentally friendly alternative as a garden fence compared to wooden garden screens or fences. Hazel screens can be nailed to wooden posts, but are usually attached to posts using: rope. You can simply use square wooden posts made of impregnated pine or hardwood, but chestnut wood posts are often also used for this. Hazel branches were mainly used in the past, but are still used today, as boundary fences or land walls around houses and land. Hazel screens give a unique rustic look and are making a comeback.

Why choose hazel hurdles

Hazel screens are not only used in natural gardens, more and more you can find them in modern gardens where hazel screens are a beautiful contrast with, inter alia, anthracite bluestone slabs.

Natural fences from hazel hurdles are very stable and generally tougher and more robust than, for example, willow fence panels and willow mats.

Moreover hazel screens are weatherproof and durable, therefore you can assume that there will be a lifetime of 10 years. Unlike impregnated wooden fences, hazel hurdles are completely biodegradable and do not need to chemically waste. For a longer lifespan, place the hazel screens approximately 5cm above the ground. This means the screens come into less contact with water. Hazel screens give a rustic look to your garden. Are braided by hand, are durable and flexible. If you want to make the hazel screens visible, you can easily grow climbing plants against them. To install, use wooden fence posts or hardwood timber posts, you will also find these in the Intergard range .

Where are our hazel hurdles consisting of

A hazel screen consists of braided hazel branches, no more and no less. The branches can consist of whole branches or split branches. Also in our range you will find hazel heavily woven on a wooden frame that can be placed horizontally and vertically and mounted with square wooden posts. Hazel screens are produced from branches that are pruned annually, an environmentally friendly alternative to wooden garden screens and fences (no forest felling, no environmental pollution due to impregnation, 100% recyclable). Hazel screens are therefore environmentally friendly and are recommended as garden fencing by environmental organizations and even by our former minister of VROM, Jacqueline Cramer.
