Intergard Sedummix Mat – Sustainable Vegetation Mats for Green Roofs
The Intergard Sedummix Mat is a pre-grown vegetation mat composed of at least 12 different Sedum species, with 6 to 8 species included in each delivery. The plants grow on a coconut fiber mat with Intergard cultivation substrate and are at least 95 % covered at delivery. The mats are produced according to VBB-FLL guidelines for green roofs.
About the Planting
Sedum is a succulent plant capable of storing water in its leaves, allowing it to thrive under various weather conditions. During the flowering period, the Sedum mixture provides food for bees and butterflies. For increased biodiversity, the Intergard Biodiversity Package can be added.
Delivery and Installation
- The Sedummix mat is delivered rolled on a pallet.
- Store in the shade after delivery and install as soon as possible.
- Installation within 24 hours is required if temperatures exceed 25 °C.
- Suitable for roofs with up to 20° slope, optimal for sunny to semi-shaded locations.

Preparation and Installation
- Roof Check: Roof must be waterproof and undamaged.
- Safety: Follow height safety regulations (guard rails, fall protection, helmet).
- Planning: Consider transport, personnel, and weather conditions.
- Cleaning: Remove dirt, debris, and other materials from the roof.
- Root Barrier Membrane: If required, overlap 50 cm and cut openings for drainage outlets.
- Protective Mat: Roll out with minimum 10 cm overlap, cut openings for drainage.
- Drainage Layer: Unroll drainage sheets with fleece facing upwards, cut to size if needed.
- Green Roof Substrate: Spread evenly, check height, fully saturate with water.
- Separation Profile: Place near drainage and in vegetation-free zones as required.
- Irrigation & Maintenance: Water immediately after installation and check regularly during dry periods.
The green roof is now ready for optimal development of the Sedummix mat into a dense, colorful, and biodiverse cover.
