How many posts do you need for a chestnut fence?
Of course, you need posts to install a chestnut fence. The spacing between posts depends on several factors.
We recommend placing a post at least every 2 metres.
Calculate the total length and divide it by 2. Then add one extra post to determine the exact number of posts required.
In areas with strong winds, you may want to place the posts closer together—for example, every 1.5 metres—for added stability.
If you're installing a gate in your chestnut fence, it's advisable to order one additional post.
What length of posts is needed for installing a chestnut fence?
For a solid structure, we recommend chestnut posts with a diameter of 6–8 cm. Of course, you can also choose thicker posts, typically between 10 and 12 cm in diameter.
Chestnut posts are rustic in appearance and may vary in diameter—this is a natural characteristic to keep in mind.
- For chestnut fences 90 cm or 100 cm high, use posts that are 140–160 cm long.
- For fences 120 cm high, use posts that are 160–180 cm long.
- For fences 150 cm or 175 cm high, use posts that are 180–250 cm long.
